Authorities of the Yei municipality in Central Equatoria State have urged the public to keep residential areas and business centres clean during the lockdown period.

The call came as public health officials conducted an awareness campaign under the theme, “Keep Yei Town Clean” on Tuesday.

Ismail Juma, a public health official in Yei, disclosed that a new pit has been dug in Logobero area to manage waste disposal.

He further pointed out that the municipality has also put in place waste collection points in residential and market centres.

“They need to keep their surroundings clean to avoid the outbreak of diseases. My message to the public is that let us maintain health practices in our society,” Juma said.

The public health official warned that anyone found littering the town would be fined and punished in accordance with local laws.
