A 29-year-old woman died allegedly after being gang-raped by seven men in Wau town of Western Bahr el Ghazal state last Wednesday.

A source told Radio Tamazuj that a 14-year old girl was also found dead after also being gang-raped in a separate incident at Hai Mashruo Ruz in Wau last Thursday.

The police commissioner in the state General Abraham Manut expressed concern about the prevalence of gangs in the town.

Manut confirmed that two gang-rape cases resulted in the death of two victims. He further said some suspects in connection with the incident have been arrested at Hai Dinka and Hella Jedida areas.

He claimed that they already admitted their involvement in the incidents.

The top police officer called on local communities to report any new information regarding gang members who are still at large.  

Recently the state security committee headed by Governor Rizig Zachariah Hassan held a meeting to discuss how to deal with the criminals.
