Vaccinations kick off in Jonglei’s Twic East County

Twic East County Commissioner Dau Akoi Jurkuch announced that a polio vaccination campaign began in his county in Jonglei State on Monday.

The offficial told Radio Tamazuj the polio campaign targets children from 0-15 years across five payams.

“Yesterday, we have launched a door-to-door vaccination campaign that will last for five days,” Dau stated.

Dau said the drugs for vaccination were brought by UNICEF donated by the World Health Organization (WHO). Asked the number of children in the county, he said he did not know and would have figures on the number of vaccinated children after campaign concluded on Friday.

The commissioner said there are no new polio cases that appeared but noted they conduct the campaign every year for protection against polio and other six killer diseases.
