US dollar rises against Sudanese pound

The price of the US dollar has risen against the Sudanese pound in the black market in the centre of Sudan’s Khartoum city on Sunday.

The price of 100 US dollar against the Sudanese pound rose to 9,500 SDG in the parallel market in the capital Khartoum on Sunday. The rising price has reportedly coincided with reduced money transfers in foreign currencies from and to Sudan.

A trader at the black market attributed the rise of the US dollar against the Sudanese pound to a "scarcity of the dollar, with increasing demand for it at the black market.”

Meanwhile, several traders predicted that the US dollar will continue to rise in value compared to the Sudanese pound.
