Unknown disease recorded in Western Bahr el Ghazal

An unknown disease broke out among children in Raja County in South Sudan’s Western Bahr El Ghazal state, according to the State Health Minister.

Isaac Kileto Hassan, the State Health Minister, told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that a strange disease has recently been recorded in Raja County and Bazia area. The disease begins with persisting convulsions. Local doctors have been unable to diagnose it, according to the South Sudanese official.

He said that international experts are on their way to ascertain this unidentified disease. A Dutch medical team is likely to visit the two aggrieved areas in order to diagnose the type of the disease, whether it is viral or bacterial, as well as its cause.

The State Minister noted that the disease had also been recorded in Munduri County in Western Equatorial state.
