Unity State authorities accuse Sudan companies of mining in S Sudan

The commissioner of Pariang County, Unity State accused Sudanese oil and mining companies  of illegal mining and drilling in South Sudanese territory.

Commissioner Monylang Manyiel said in an interview with Radio Tamazuj that there are some Sudanese companies operating around oil wells in Waling administrative area of Paring County, eight kilometers from the international border.

He said Sudanese companies are exploring for gold in the Fukiat area in the Lunar administrative unit as well.

Monylang demanded the Sudanese mining teams withdraw from South Sudan.

He said Khartoum is exploiting South Sudan's insecurity and appealed to Khartoum to abide by security agreements signed between the two countries.
