The United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) has arrested 11 Misseriya tribesmen suspected of trying to rob its vehicles in Mayankor area of Abyei.

A source said that a patrol belonging to UNISFA forces came under fire at Mayankor area, about 10 kilometres away from Abyei. The UNISFA patrol unit managed to arrest about 11 attackers from the Misseriya Arab tribe after calling for a reinforcement force.

The arrested Misseriya members are now under investigations. Eight persons among the attackers were allegedly using machine guns.

The group was planning to steal the UNISFA’s vehicles, according to the same source.
