Two refugee women assaulted by herders in Sudan’s White Nile state

Sudanese herders assaulted two South Sudanese women refugees who were collecting firewood Wednesday by the Jori camp in White Nile state.

One of the assaulted refugees told Radio Tamazuj Thursday that they were severely beaten by herders when they were on their way to fetch firewood in the neighborhood.

“We were about six women, but the four were able to escape. They beat us under the pretext that we were cutting down the trees,” she said.

The women were taken to a hospital for treatment.  Police have been informed of the matter.
