Two girls were allegedly by eight herders at Kurtala village in Habila Locality of South Kordofan state last Thursday night.

A source told Radio Tamazuj that one of the rape victims is underage. Both of them were taken to Habila Hospital for medical attention.

The eight men assaulted the two sisters in the neighbourhood along with another six women and two elderly men who escaped after being threatened by the attackers, according to the source.

Police authorities failed to trace the perpetrators. The incident has reportedly caused fear among local residents.

The Dalami and Habila localities commissioners also reportedly went to visit the area where the incident took place. For their part, local communities condemned the incident, describing it as alien to their culture.
