Trucks stranded on Yei-Maridi road

Hundreds of trucks are stuck on the Maridi-Yei road in Central Equatoria State of South Sudan. The blockage point is about 9 miles from Yei.

Some of them have been stuck on the road outside of Yei town since 21 August. Many of the trucks are heading to Rumbek, Wau, Warrap or elsewhere in the Bahr al Ghazal region of South Sudan.

For instance, there are trucks contracted by UNMISS to provide fuel to their base in Rumbek.

A team working with Kirinya Road Construction Company from Kenya are constructing a road from Yei to the Congo border. They told Radio Tamazuj that they were reassigned to help rescue the stranded trucks.
