Over 10,000 farmers were affected by the passage of an oil pipeline through their territory in Dilling Locality in Sudan’s South Kordofan state, according to a traditional leader.

Fadul Habila, a leader of the Ghulfan Nuba tribe, told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday that about 10,000 farmers have lost land without any compensation from by the National Ministry of Petroleum or oil operating companies in the area.

He pointed out that the Nile Petroleum Company owns a 72-kilometre pipeline occupying an extensive arable land without compensating the affected farmers.

Fadul called on the oil companies to provide basic services and employ local youths.
