Three children killed in Blue Nile bombing

A Sudanese airplane last Thursday bombed Bani-Mayo village of Blue Nile State, killing three children from a community displaced by recent fighting in Mafo area.

Sudanese troops recently retook the Mafo area from SPLA-North but later withdrew. This caused the flight of as many as 5000 citizens, according to unverified reports from the area.

A warplane on 21 February dropped six bombs on Bani-Mayo village of Kurmuk Locality, killing three children and seriously wounding two others who were taken to Bunj Hospital in Upper Nile State of South Sudan.

The father of the three children, Hussein Abdallah, speaking to Radio Tamazuj from Bunj Hospital, identified his three slain children as Sabur Hussein (3 years old), Dahiya Hussein (9 years), and Kojak Hussein (6 years).

Abdallah recalled that the attack also caused the burning and destruction of homes: “It was a very great loss and people are now sheltering in open spaces and under trees.”
