Teachers in South Sudan’s Pashoda County have expressed discontent about low payment at the level of primary and secondary schools.

Adwok Kiir, a head master  told Radio Tamazuj from Kodok that they have been complaining about this issue for a long time.

He noted that most of the teachers have deserted the teaching profession, which paralyses the schooling. Others resorted to other sources of income so as to improve their living standards.

Kiir attributed the problem to the worsening economic situation as well as the low payment by the government.   

The stakeholder called upon the State Education Ministry to increase teachers’ salaries and create a conducive educational environment for both teachers and students.

Pashoda County had organised a one-month training workshop for teachers. It was organized by the State Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Vision International organisation.
