South Darfur refugees at Boro Medina camp in Raja County, Western Bahr el Ghazal state complained about rising prices of essential commodities and clothing as the Islamic festival of Eid al-Fiitr approaches.

Ishaq Abdullah, information officer at Boro Medina camp, told Radio Tamazuj that refugees are suffering from worsening humanitarian and security situations in the camp.

He said families are complaining about rising prices of consumer goods and clothing for children at the market as Eid al-Fitr approaches.

Abdullah said the refugees have not received aid assistance recently and have begun to leave the camp out of frustration.

Stranded returnees in Renk

Hundreds of stranded South Sudanese returnees in Renk’s Payuar camp in Upper Nile State also report deteriorating humanitarian and health conditions.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj Tuesday, several returnees said they have experienced acute shortages of food, medicine, and tarpaulins since coming back in 2011.

Some demanded that the South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (SSRRC) to provide them food and medicine.

Others called on the South Sudanese government to transport them to their areas of origin.
