Members of the Sudanese Congress Party and the Arab Socialist Ba’ath party have traded accusations regarding the signing of the "Sudan Appeal."

Mustafa Diaa-Eldin, spokesman for the Arab Socialist Ba’ath party, accused the National Consensus Forces (NCF) of looking for compromise with the NCP-led government of Omar al-Bashir.

Diaa-Eldin pointed out that although the NCF signed the “Sudan Appeal” with the armed Sudan Revolutionary Front, they also signed onto a decision of the African Peace and Security Council adopted by Thabo Mbeki providing for reconciliation with the NCP government.

Sudanese Congress Party official Khalid Omar responded that the “Sudan Appeal” is an attempt to recognize the armed parties that took up arms as the result of cultural marginalization in an efforts to integrate into the political life.

He accused the Ba’ath party for being shortsighted and focusing only on their Arabisation project, according to Aljareda newspaper.
