The management of the Sudanese Communist Party newspaper al-Maidan said they intend to file a lawsuit against a hostile body that hacked its email and printed old print-runs before distributing them without permission from the newspaper’s management.

Kamal Karar, managing editor, told Radio Tamazuj that the only hostile body that can hack their email is the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS).

He pointed out that they intend open a case against that body in order to compensate printing costs to the newspaper.

In a statement issued on 27 May, the newspaper claimed its email was hacked by a hostile body and that an old issue numbered 2965 and dated 14 May was printed and distributed in the market without their knowledge.

They said they move was aimed at misleading readers that al-Maidan was not adhering to a recent decision by the Sudanese Journalist's Network (SJN) to suspend publication in order to protest the confiscation of print runs of nine newspapers and suspension of four publishing licenses recently.
