The Chairperson of the Culture and Media Committee in the Sudanese parliament Afaf Tawer revealed new details of the battle that took place near Dilling last Saturday between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and militants of the Sudanese Revolutionary Front (RSF).

The recent events near Dilling resulted in the death of 13 people and wounded 42, while 8 were taken prisoner.

Afaf Tawer, who is also a member of the National Congress Party from the Nuba Mountains, confirmed that the rebels cut the road between Dilling and Al Dibebat for some time before it was regained by the armed forces.

This acknowledgement came after the announcement of SRF at the beginning of this week that they control the road linking Al-Dibebat, Dilling and Al Obeid – a claim that the Sudanese government initially denied.

Tawer in a press statement on Tuesday blamed the attack on SRF troops from the Darfur movements, claiming that only three people from Nuba tribes took part in the attack. She confirmed the death of only one of SAF soldier.

She also accused the Government of South Sudan and held them the responsible for the events in Delling for providing support for the rebel movements, and demanded the Nuba people to disengage from SPLM and the Darfur movements.
