Sudan, South Sudan extend humanitarian MoU for six months

A memorandum of understanding between Sudan’s Humanitarian Aid Commission, South Sudan and the World Food Programme (WFP) has been extended for six months to transport humanitarian aid to South Sudan.

“Due to an urgent request from the South Sudanese government and according to the critical humanitarian situation in South Sudan, the Sudanese government has agreed to the extension,” reads part of a communiqué issued by the three parties.

WFP announced that the previous memorandum of understanding was due to end on 8 January.
The agreement enables the WFP to pass humanitarian aid from Sudan to South Sudan for a further six months.

The agreement was jointly announced by the Sudanese humanitarian aid commissioner Ahmed Mohamed Adam, the South Sudan Ambassador to Sudan Mayen Dut Wol as well as the Sudan country director of the United Nations World Food Programme Adnan Khan.
