Sudan, S Sudan border talks postponed for security reasons

A meeting of the Joint Political and Security Mechanism (JPSC) between Sudan and South Sudan slated to take place on Wednesday in Khartoum was postponed.

South Sudanese Ambassador to Khartoum Mayan Dut Wol said in a Tuesday statement that the South Sudanese delegation was not able to travel to Khartoum due to security considerations in his country. However, the South Sudanese diplomat didn’t give further details about those internal security reasons.

He noted that a new date will be set. He pointed out that the meetings between the two sides will discuss demarcation of borders besides the implementation of the signed joint cooperation agreements and strengthening bilateral relations between the two Sudans.

Ministers of defense, interior, and foreign affairs as well as SPLA chief of staff were expected to attend the JPSM meeting in Khartoum.
