Sudanese security agents have launched a campaign of mass arrests among political activists in Abu Jubeiha Locality in Sudan’s South Kordofan state.

This campaign comes after an unknown group wrote banners where they expressed their discontent about poor basic services and persistent power outages for more than four months in the area.

The angry activists also condemned what they termed “corruption in the government institutions,” while demanding justice for the killing of demonstrators in September last year.

A source told Radio Tamazuj that the number of arrested activists could reach 20, as of the second day of Eid El Adha.

Those arrested in Abu Jabeiha include Dr. Motaz El Jaili, El Buseiri Saleh Omer, Mohamed Abel-Ghafar Saeed, Adam El Jarari and El Dou Kambal Suleiman as well as Ibrahim El Naimi who is a primary school teacher, according to the same source.

‫ Several citizens expressed concerns about the move by security forces, saying some activists who were released after being detained were abused. One of the released detainees was suffering from serious health problems, said one citizen.

They further said the group that criticized the government cannot be identified easily as an organized group.
