Fresh clashes have erupted between the Awlad Omran and Al-Ziyoud groups of the Arab Misseriya tribe at Kilo 13 area in West Kordofan State.

The Kilo 13 area was made as a buffer zone after a peace conference recently, a local source said. In June last year, the Awlad Omran and Al-Ziyoud clans signed a truce after deadly clashes over a piece of land that left more than 44 tribesmen dead from the two sides.

One of the Ziyoud tribal leaders who preferred anonymity told Radio Tamazuj that the clashes resulted in the killing of one person and wounding of three others from their side.

He added the wounded were taken to Babanusa Hospital for treatment. He claimed that about five people were wounded from the Awlad Omran side. The traditional leader did not give the number of dead from the Awlad Omran side.

Meanwhile, another source confirmed to Radio Tamazuj that there were casualties from the Awlad Omran side without giving further details.

However, the Ziyoud leader claimed the security situation has now returned to normal after the Rapid Support Forces intervened.
