At least two SPLA-N soldiers were killed and several others wounded in clashes with Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) in Agadi area in Blue Nile state on Friday night, according to SAF spokesman Al Sawarmi Khalid Sa’ad.

Sa’ad said in a statement on Saturday that their army chased a group of rebels who attacked the market in the Agadi town, about 36 kilometres west of the Blue Nile state capital El- Damazin.

He said that rebels killed one civilian and looted food items at the market.

A group comprised of eight rebels managed to penetrate into the market on Friday night and stormed some shops before killing one resident, according to the SAF spokesman.

Al Sawarmi stated SAF pursued the assailants and killed two of them and wounded several others, adding that some of the stolen goods have been recovered.

The spokesman admitted that they lost one soldier while another was injured during the skirmishes.

He added the government forces have already combed the area around Agadi and chased the remnants of the rebels outside.

However, he claimed that the security situation is stable in the area.
