SCP leader Ibrahim al Sheikh released in Sudan (Radio `Tamazuj, 15 September 2014) – Sudanese authorities today released the head of the Sudanese Congress Party, Ibrahim El Sheikh, after more than three months in prison following his criticism of the government’s Rapid Support Forces.

SPLM-IO and SPLM-Leaders want Lam Akol at peace talks (Radio Tamazuj, 16 September 2014) – The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) and SPLM-Leaders delegations at South Sudan’s peace talks hosted in Ethiopia say they would like the opposition politician Lam Akol to join the negotiations.

Mediators in talks on S Sudan negotiations agenda (Radio Tamazuj, 17 September 2014) – Talks began today in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia, between the IGAD peace mediators and the South Sudanese stakeholders to determine the agenda for the current round of negotiations, which is just beginning.

Freed Sudan opposition leader says release of political detainees not sufficient for dialogue (Sudan Tribune, 17  September 2014) – The head of the Sudan Congress Party (ScoP) Ibrahim al-Sheikh vowed not to enter into any deals with the government and downplayed the significance of the ongoing national dialogue process called for by president Omer Hassan al-Bashir earlier this year as long as it does not lead to annulment of restrictive laws, implementing the rule of law and enforcing the independence of judiciary.

Sudan’s NCP slams calls for truce and transitional government (Sudan Tribune, 18 September 2014) – Sudanese presidential aide, Ibrahim Ghandour, has reiterated his government rejection for any discussions outside Sudan and slammed call for cessation of hostilities and the formation of a transitional government.
