SPLA threatens to shoot down any unidentified aircraft in South Sudan airspace

SPLA has issued directives to their air defense commanders to shoot down any aircraft entering South Sudan airspace without formal permission from state authorities.

The government army spokesman Col. Philip Aguer said in statements to the media in Juba on Sunday that there are military intelligence reports of unidentified aircraft landing in South Sudan in secret.

“Some unidentified aircraft have been hovering in and out of South Sudan. They used some secret and illegal airstrips to drop some weapons and carry people illegally. There have been illegal activities taking place in the country which are threats to the security of the country and its people. This security measure is in the interest of the people of South Sudan,” Aguer stressed.
