South Sudan’s UDF party dismisses two members

Peter Abdelrahman Sule has dismissed two key members from his party, the United Democratic Front (UDF), on allegations of bringing chaos into the party.

Sebastian Uchan and David William were occupying the posts of deputy and secretary general of the party respectively while Sule was in detention, Radio Miraya reported Thursday.

Sule was detained for more than a year from 2011-2012.

“There is only one UDF party under the leadership of the current legitimately elected chairman,” Sule told Radio Miraya. “Mr. Subastian Uchan (and) Mr David William are no longer members of the United Democratic Front party. It is only logical that anybody who quits an organization may not again call himself/ herself by its name.”

Sule also clarified that his party is not a member of the Political Parties Leadership Forum (PPLF), an association of political parties whose leadership is contested by SPLM-DC chairman Lam Akol and loyalists of the SPLM-Juba faction.
