South Sudan’s Maban to allocate land to Blue Nile refugees

The commissioner of South Sudan’s Maban County, James Pasha, disclosed that they intend to distribute plots to the Blue Nile refugees in Maban County by 2014.

In an interview with Radio Tamazuj on Saturday, Pasha stated that he recently participated in a workshop organised in Italy on the rights of refugees to have land.

The workshop was attended by more than 50 countries including Sudan and South Sudan, he said.

The commissioner confirmed his county’s commitment to allocate farmlands and residential areas to the refugees living in the county.

We are working also to provide essential services to them, according to the commissioner.

Maban County accommodates more than 120,000 refugees from the Blue Nile State, since the armed conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and Sudan People Liberation Army North erupted in 2011.
