South Sudan prison officers trained in record-keeping

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has funded a training programme for South Sudanese prison guards to learn about accurate record-keeping using a computerized system for tracking inmate statistics.

In a statement on its Facebook page, UNDP South Sudan said that 32 National Prison Service officers undergoing the training graudated recently in Juba.

The UN agency said it also provided the computerised system and equipment for use in the various prisons across the country.

“The new records officers, drawn from national and state level prison facilities underwent an intense two-week training which also included inmate care and management,” reads the announcement from UNDP.
