Despite a good second performance in its history, South Sudan lost with 1:3 against Kenya. '16 Jockins Atudo (penalty), '26 Richard Justin, '29 Jacob Keli (Man of the Match) and ’78 David Owino. Kenya missed also a second penalty. South Sudan will not proceed to the next round in the CECAFA2013 after it lost earlier from Ethiopia (1:0)
Before the match started, Kenyan supporters had welcomed back their head coach, Adel Amrouche, but At Nyayo stadium in Machakos it was noticeable that the Kenyans do not like their team while the South Sudanese seem to stand all behind their team. “Hosts Kenya will go for nothing but victory”, the coach had announced. But it didn’t go that easy. South Sudan played a fairly good second official match.

Jockins Atudo's took a penalty for Kenya after just 16 minutes. South Sudan's captain, Richard Jistin had scored a beautiful free-kick on the 27th minute mark to equalise the game. Jacob Keli's scored three minutes later that put the Harambee Stars in the lead. In the second half South Sudan keeper Jinaro saved Joackins Atudo's penalty.

Few minutes later David 'Calabar' Owino made the third goal for Kenya. The Kenyans tweets were revealing their doubts during the match: “We should play ground football, man. South Sudan fellows are all over the air balls”. The match was led by Zanzibar official, Waziri Sheha.

South Sudan lost their chances of reaching the quarter finals for the first time in history.
