A security patrol unit seized four vehicles loaded with large quantities of guns and ammunition in the capital of the South Darfur state capital Nyala on Friday.

According to a source in Nyala town, the four Land cruisers were coming from Ad Daien Locality when they were stoped at Tandibaya Checkpoint.

Bursts of gunfire were heard in the town when the vehicles were stopped at the checkpoint. About 21 individuals in the four vehicles were arrested.

It was also alleged that the convoy was carrying illegal drugs.

The Nyala Locality Commissioner has denied the report.
