Fighting broke out on Thursday afternoon between SPLM-Juba faction fighters and gunmen suspected to be loyal to the SPLM-IO faction.  

Deputy Governor of Upper Nile Awer Dau, a member of SPLM-Juba, blamed rebels for attacking their positions in Nasser. He claimed some artillery attacks took place yesterday with ground forces clashing today.

SPLA-Juba’s official spokesman, however, said that he had no information about the latest events in Nasser.
