Renk police director Col. Atem Dau said theft is rising in the county. He said 47 cases of stealing have been recorded by the police recently.

Day said that have taken advantage of the latest fighting in Renk which forced residents to flee to Sudan.

“Houses were ransacked, but other crimes such as murder were controlled in the county,” he told Radio Tamazuj.

The officer appealed to local residents to cooperate with the authorities in order curb the rise in crime.
