Hundreds of South Sudanese refugees in Sudan’s White Nile say they are still short on food and relief items, which are normally distributed by international organizations working in the area.

Several South Sudanese nationals living in the area told Radio Tamazuj they are unhappy about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the area, including malnutrition among children under five years old. Many are now trying to ramp up agricultural production to avoid severe food shortages.

They also told Radio Tamazuj many people have had to take their children out of school.

In October the United Nations Envoy for Humanitarian Affairs Abdullah Matouq described the conditions of South Sudanese refugees living in White Nile as “tragic” after visiting a camp in Joda area along the Sudan-South Sudan border.
