Prisoners suffer from hunger in Yirol East County

More than 60 prisoners including 20 women are facing a food shortage in Yirol East County of Lakes State, according to a report Friday by Radio Miraya.

County Inspector of Prisons David Majur Mangok said the Yirol prison is overcrowded and there is not enough food to feed the inmates.

Speaking on the UN radio service he said that there are not enough wards to accommodate all 65 prisoners. “Feeding is another problem,” he acknowledged.

Majur said that the prisoners at Yirol East jail include those accused of having committed murder, cattle theft, adultery, robbery and girl abduction.
