Traders at Agok Market say prices are dropping as a result of dry season approaching in Rumamer County, south of Kiir-Adem River in the Abyei region.

According to the traders, prices were higher some months ago but within the week over 15 vehicles arrived from Juba with goods to Agok, resulting in lower prices of commodities in the market.

Ismail Mohamed, a trader from Sudan at Agok, told Radio Tamazuj that the price of  sugar dropped from 550 SSP to 400 SSP, 20 liters cooking oil from 600 SSP to 380 SSP, and a carton of soap from 600 SSP to 400 SSP.

Mohamed mentioned that some goods that were previously not available in the market now have become available.

Besides the vehicles that arrived from Juba, he said recently seven Land Cruiser pick ups loaded with goods arrived from Warawar via Majok nyin-thiu from Meiram.

For his part, Ahmed Ibrahim told Radio Tamazuj that though some goods have dropped in price others are still expensive as a result of flooded road conditions.

He said there are small drop of prices like a bar of soap was 10 SSP two weeks ago and now dropped to 7 SSP.
