The UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) dispatched a team to Cueibet County, Lakes State on Tuesday to meet with the commmunity and call for respect for human rights.

According to UNMISS, the team consisted of personnel from different sections including UNMISS Human Rights, UN Police, Civil Affairs and Child Protection

The team’s mission was to “engage with the community as part of an ongoing human rights awareness and sensitization campaign in the state.” They held a workshop with community members.

Lakes State has been experiencing high levels of inter-communal violence, murder, robbery and other violent crime that have left hundreds dead already this year.
