A cross-border meeting between Sudanese pastoralists and South Sudanese communities who are living in northern Upper Nile State have been postponed.

A meeting was supposed to kick off in late November in order to discuss movement of cattle into Upper Nile state.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj yesterday, the head of the Upper Nile Pastoralists Union Bior Kur said the meeting would have started on 25 November, but it has been delayed to next year after the representatives of the Sudanese pastoralists failed to attend the meeting.

He further said Sudanese pastoralists from Jebelein and Salam in White Nile have recently crossed illegally to Upper Nile territory without any permission from the union.

Kur hinted that the migrating pastoralists can cause a lot of problems during their stay in the state especially on farms.

He pointed out that Sudanese pastoralists were invited by the Renk County Commissioner to attend the meeting, but they failed to show up. The meeting has been pushed to early next year, according the head of Upper Nile pastoralists.
