Yesterday’s sitting of South Sudan parliament to deliberate on issues pertaining to pollution in oil fields and the situation of flood-stricken people in Lol State was adjourned.

The minister of health, the minister of environment and the minister of petroleum were expected to appear before the members to answer questions relating to pollution in oilfields while the minister of health and that of humanitarian affairs were also supposed to address the national parliament on the situation of people affected by floods in Lol State.

“There is no sitting today (Wednesday). Lack of power did not allow the house to hold its regular sitting because the generators that supply the parliament with electricity have faulted,” said Paul Yoane, chairperson of the parliamentary committee for information.

The house, according to the legislator, will resume its normal activities once generators are repaired.
