One dead after South Kordofan militia fires on civilians

Militia allied to the Sudanese Armed Forces opened fire at civilians in Abu-Jabiha in Sudan's South Kordofan state this week, killing one and injuring four.

An eyewitness told Radio Tamazuj that the dead person was a student named Zainab Adam. The four injured were also students, including two girls from a primary school. They are in critical condition.

“Just near the hospital they fired bullets at the people during the morning hours," the witness told Radio Tamazuj. "The incident has caused great destructions."

The witness said the shooting began near the Abu-Jabiha Hospital but continued through the town to Talodi district. Local authorities neither responded nor pursued the perpetrators, the witness noted.

Local citizens said that the incident is not of the first kind.
