National Security Service threaten radio station in Yei

Spirit FM staff working in Yei County of Central Equatoria State on Wednesday received a call by the South Sudanese National Security Service to report immediately their Juba office.

The Spirit FM editor told Radio Tamazuj, “It was early in the morning before reading news when I received the call from Juba National Security to report to their office with the Program Manager.”

He said he does not know the reason for being summoned by the security service. The editor said they were called by someone called Deng Deng William who claimed to be from National Security office in Juba.

“In Yei here we have no any issue with security personnel in the county and sometimes they even help us with some information concerning events. Before moving to Juba we shall first report to the Yei security office,” he said.

He said they have done nothing wrong and they are yet to find out what happened to cause their summons. He said unless the security service explains the summons, they may not go.
