A mother of quadruplets in Wau County of South Sudan's Western Bahr el Ghazal State is appealing for assistance after being diagnosed with malaria at the Wau Teaching Hospital.

Achai Garang Gau delivered her two boys and two girls through C-section on Saturday night after experiencing complications during labor.

After the successful operation, Achai told Radio Tamazuj she had exhausted all the money she had to cater for the operation and could not afford malaria treatment.

“I was eight months and a half when I started to feel the pain yesterday (Friday). When I came to the hospital, I delivered four babies through an operation. I was taken for operation from 7:PM to 8:30 at night,” Achai said. “Now I am okay but I and one of my babies fell sick with malaria and cough but for now he is getting better." 

“I had some money which I used to buy some drugs and now it has finished. I cannot buy the medication I need and I am appealing to anyone who can help to help save my children and me," Achai pleaded. 

Meanwhile, Dr. Justin Fitio Wani, the doctor who delivered the quadruplets said the mother and children are in good condition. 

"The operation ended successfully and it is now three days. As doctors, we have nothing to do more than follow up with other medical care,” he said.

He added that this is the first time a woman delivered quadruplets at the hospital after another woman delivered triplets about four months ago at the same health facility. 

For his part, Dr. James Ambrose Uchin, the director-general in the state ministry of health also called on the health partners in the state to support the family.
