Medair calls for safe access to Maban communities
The aid organization Medair on Tuesday called for “safe and unrestricted access” in Maban County, where violence – including against aid organizations themselves – has forced many aid workers to stop working and caused others to leave.
Medair says it was forced to restrict the movement of its teams in Maban County owing to violence over the last few days.
The organization has been providing emergency health care, clean water, and sanitation and hygiene support to more than 60,000 people in Maban’s Bunj town and Yusuf Batil Camp.
“The violence is jeopardising the lives of thousands of people we serve in Batil Camp and Bunj Town who count on us for providing clean drinking water and medical care for their survival,” said Anne Reitsema, Medair’s Country Director for South Sudan.
