A map published today by the humanitarian Logistics Cluster in South Sudan shows that conditions are improving on a number of roads in the country, owing to seasonally drier weather.

Many roads in South Sudan are impassable during the rainy season. The Logistics Cluster, a coordinating body supported by the UN World Food Programme, says that this week the situation has changed significantly.

The latest map shows that road warnings have been lifted for numerous routes especially in Equatoria and between Wau and Rumbek, compared to the previous map published by the Logistics Cluster on 19 December.

The routes that have seen improvement include Juba-Yei-Faraksika-Mundri, Mundri-Mvolo-Rumbek, Yambio-Tambura-Wau, and Rumbek-Tonj-Wau.

The road closure warning for Pariang-Jamjang has also been lifted. However, several main routes still remain closed, including Wau-Raja, Wunrok-Turalei-Abiemnhom-Mayom, Bor-Mabior-Ayod, and Kapoeta-Boma.

The Logistics Clusters designations are based on the physical condition of the roads and not on security factors. The map is available for download at the link below.
