Lightning strike kills Blue refugee in Ethiopia

One person was reported dead and another person is undergoing medical treatment after being hit by lightning strikes in two separate incidents at Tango camp for Blue Nile refugees in Ethiopia last week.

Omda Mohamed Fadel-Mullah told Radio Tamazuj that the lightening strikes also burnt 12 houses in the camp on Friday, which caused panic and fear among the refugees.

He pointed out that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) distributed non-food items to the Blue Nile families so they can rebuild their houses.

Refugees at the camp came since the outbreak of conflict in 2011 between the Sudan Armed Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North.
