Land dispute between MP and commissioner in Lakes

County authorities have allegedly demolished a lodge on land in Bargel payam belonging to MP Moses Ater Manyiel, representing Wulu County in Lakes State.

In turn, the MP has accused Commissioner Akol Muorwel of threatening his life over the plot.

“The commissioner pointed at me with a gun… I went to the police and I told them that I have a problem…  The Police Inspector told me that okay that is good but we don’t have powers to arrest commissioner and also, we don’t have powers to arrest you.”

“I don’t have a problem with commissioner but the commissioner himself has a problem with me. First of all, he has taken my land… Number two, he also went in and he has managed to put hand pumps in my farm without my knowledge,” he said.

Speaking to Radio Miraya, the commissioner denied threatening the MP, saying, “I am not ready to kill anybody in Wulu. That is completely a lie. I am just ready to solve issues of Wulu. First of all, Honourable Taban has many problems of houses in Wulu and I do not want to involve myself because Wulu has surveyors’ teams with maps ready.”

He said that he found that the MP constructed a house on the road and also fenced in water hand pumps belonging to the community.

He said the parliamentarian can open a civil case about the issue.
