South Sudan's President Salva Kiir said Sunday he will not accept rebel leader Riek Machar as a prime minister in any interim government.

Speaking at Juba International Airport upon his arrival from the United States, Kiir warned that a prime minister in South Sudan would damage the whole political system.

Kiir was in Washington DC to attend the US-Africa summit with Barack Obama and other African leaders.

He said that he told the IGAD heads of state that the interim government they are trying to create is not right because his term is not over.

Kiir said that if Machar wants to be in government that he as president can create a position for him. He said current vice president James Wani Igga could be appointed as first vice president with Machar as the second.

Kiir added that if Riek refused, he should wait for the elections.

The president said that while in Washington he told US secretary of State John Kerry that for the only solution he can do is to expand his government.  He thensaid that he cannot create the new prime minister position for Machar because it is against South Sudan's constitution.

President further accused the rebels of attacking government position twice Sunday mornning.  He said 37 people died in the rebel attack.  He said the government will respond soon if the armed opposition continues its attacks.
