Three days of joint talks between Sudan and South Sudan on issues of transport and roads are scheduled to begin Wednesday.

Sudan’s Minister for Transport Siraj Al-Din Hamid said the two sides will discuss means of transport between the two countries including rehabilitation and operation of the railway line between Babanusa and Wau.

Al-Din said 246 vessels are available to resume river navigation, with a thematic committee already completing a draft framework agreement on the issue.

Upon arrival in Khartoum’s airport yesterday, South Sudan’s Minister of Roads and Bridges Kuong Danher Galuak told Khartoum-based Sudan Vision that his visit indicates his government's commitment to implementing signed border crossing agreements.

Galuak said the two sides will discuss through a technical committee issues pertaining to the opening of border crossings as soon as possible.

Al-Din added that preparations are being made for Galuak to meet Sudan’s vice president.
