Kadugli government urges citizens to be calm

Kadugli Commissioner Abu Albashar Abdel-Gader recently issued an order over state radio to urge people not to leave Kadulgi town out of fear of shelling near the town two days ago, according to reports from Kadugli.

SPLA launched rockets on Sudanese army positions east and west of the city using Iranian-made ‘Shawaz’ 130 mm rockets, according to a Sudanese military source.

Sources in the city reported fighting west of the city about three days ago in the areas of Hajr Nimr and Jebel Simsim.

The sources indicated that the military operations in the western region led to an exodus of people from Jebel al Bedein and Hilla Jadida neigbhorhoods, while at the same time authorities prevented civilians from entering the military hospital for treatment.

In another development, reports from Abu Jubeiha in the eastern Nuba mountains indicate that 26 people were arrested by security authorities and transported to the Division 14 headquarters in Kadugli.

Some of the families of the detainees reported that the reasons for the detention was that they allegedly had written on the walls of government buildings slogans against the government.
