Interior Ministry says only 5 legal checkpoints in N Bahr al Ghazal

South Sudan's Ministry of Interior reportedly recognizes only five legally established checkpoints in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State for revenue collection.

Authorities have announced they are cracking down on illegal checkpoints along the border of South Sudan and Sudan.

State Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Ayei Bol Akol said his ministry formed a team that agreed to abolish illegal checkpoints and establish only five.

The five established checkpoints are Jaac, Gok Machar, Rumaker, Majokthiou, and in Aweil town.

Bol warned that anyone attempting to set up another checkpoint will be held accountable. He said that the price of foodstuffs increased due to multiple checkpoints spreading everywhere in state.
