Heavy rainfall within Juba on Thursday evening resulted in flooding of many houses in parts of the city. Citizens of some areas went to sleep in flooded homes.

Munuki was one of the most affected neighborhoods, in part because of buildings constructed without proper drainage.

One resident and businessman of the area, Mule Sokiri, said that he had never experienced such rain.

“You see this rain inside my sleeping has disrupted everything – my money, my documents," Mule said.

At leave seven households were affected by flooding in Munuki Block B.

Other homeowners whose houses had remained dry nonetheless expressed concern that the continuing rain could cause the waters to rise further, reaching into their compounds.

The Tong Ping area has also been affected by flooding.
