Residents at Zhara residential area in Renk County in South Sudan’s Upper Nile are reporting shortages of basic services and lack of education as well as healthcare.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, several residents in the area expressed concern about the poor situation.

They said they were experiencing a shortage of basic services, blaming the Upper Nile government for failing to take action.

A woman living in the area said pupils live without schooling, prompting some parents to send their children for education in distant areas, beside complaints of poor health services.

Meanwhile, several internally displaced persons living in Zhara area also complained of deteriorating humanitarian conditions.

The IDPs called on the main parties to the conflict in South Sudan to reach a peace deal so they can return to their areas of origin.
